No, Sam, we worked on Phil's AmTran RE RV conversion and went to the 2011 New Haven 422 auction.

You don't need membership to attend as a guest. I attended three...2 CASTO chapter 6 roadeos, and one norcal roadeo. I'd say the chapter 6 ones are more fun...I went with a driver trainer from EDUHSD, and we both judged. I've lost my contacts at CASTO, but I'm sure I could find out information again...I'd be interested in going.

We have our own bus roadeo here at Unitrans. All staff is allowed to compete, even non-drivers. I did it last year, and it was really fun! I'd say I did pretty well for never being behind the wheel of a bus before. I told my driver trainer not to tell me anything unless I was about to hit something, and he never needed too! I did plow through multiple cones though...

Getting off topic now, but our drivers treat the roadeo as a race. Its the only day of the year that they remove the 5mph limit at the Pad. I never knew how rough buses could be...I was sitting down holding on, and still got thrown side to side. I tried to get a video, but my finger slipped off the camera button when the driver hit the brakes...you can see the bus speeding torwards a fence, then the visual cuts out and you hear the brakes lock up and people start to scream. It was intense.

Haha, thanks Sam! That would be really cool. I go down to San Jose to see my Dad occasionally, so maybe we could work it out for me to stop by some time on the way there.

Are you planning on going to the 2015 CASTO roadeo? Because I might if I can get a membership. Speaking of, do you need a membership to attend the roadeos? I recall you attending one a couple years ago.

Thats right, I forgot you guys met up! And here I haven't even seen a picture of you... :P haha. It was a STN expo, riggggggght?

Yeah Reese, if you ever want a tour of the Unitrans facilities or something that could work out. Gotta recruit you as a future conductor, haha.

You guys should make that happen! ;) When Kodie and I met in person, it wasn't at all awkward (for me, anyway). But, we were with Phil, so there was somebody else there who already knew each of us, and a common task at hand, so that helped. Then again, I had "known" Kodie online for 3 years already....

Yeah, it is a strange coincidence! Especially since during the entire time Arrow was active, there were no other active bus fans from California on any school bus website (though there were a few spotty ones).

Neither Andy nor I live in there anymore...I'm a senior at UC Davis (about an hour away) and Andy goes to college in Pennsylvania now. Our parents still live there, so I go from time-to-time....its odd thinking about how different my life is now than when Arrow was operational. Working in transit, I've forgotton a lot about how school bus operations are run...or maybe just realized how much I didn't know? The weirdedst part about restarting Arrow would be getting back into the mindset of school transportation based in my hometown.  ...anyway, the point of that paragraph was that Reese and I have never met, haha.

Just a crazy coincidence. One day I google imaged "gillig phantom" and a picture of bus 6 pulled up (the one from the district we attended) so I clicked on it, and it went to his Flickr page.

Hi Reese! Looks like Sam (and his brother, Andy) aren't alone anymore. ;) Did you know them in person or is it just a crazy coincidence? I was in a situation where Phil Krulic, another bus nut, drove a bus that stopped at the school I went to, and I saw him every afternoon, but it wasn't until a couple years later, through pictures he posted on SBC, that I realized who he was.

Hi, I'm Reese, a school bus enthusiast from Northern California.

I attend the same school districts as Sam did, which is pretty cool. It's funny seeing the buses here as most of them are created after the ones in the area. My favorite bus is a Gillig Phantom, specifically the one in my current profile picture. I participated in Baden for about a month before it's most recent closure, so I understand the fundamentals of Transportation RP's.
