My district keeps buses 5 years/95,000 miles. (actually 5 years as a reg. route bus and 1 year as a spare) We just started this plan 5 years ago, so we still have a few over 5 years old. None are over 80.000 miles. We find that retiring a bus when its 6 years old, we get more money when we trade them in. Plus, NYBS pays us 75%(?. I think its a little higher) of what we paid for the bus (when it was new) so using the money we get for the trade-in plus the state aid. I THINK i remember the T/D saying we pay 13,000 dollars for FOUR buses. I'll check with him to verify the numbers again.

This also saves the tax payers because the buses are constantly under warranty, which means the school only pays for wipers, tires, oil changes and service. This GREATLY reduces repair costs.

Why don't you keep P041 and get rid of 19202?
