Maintenance Department Closed
« on: May 26, 2009, 02:51:04 pm »
Hi Guys,

I'm going to take a few days off from bus maintenance. The shop will be closed , and buses won't be serviced. If you break down we will arrange something. My mom's condition has worsened over the past 24 hours and I really want to put my focus on her. I'll be on the forum but I don't want to spend time on those things at the moment.

Thanks for understanding.

^ We sorted that out over PM, and from now on, family leave time, injuries, etc. will count for approximately HALF of the paid vacation time. For example, if you missed 5 days of work, you'd only get 2 or 3 deducted from your vacation time, depending on whether you are still around the forum, if you have a driving job and still did Office jobs, etc.

You know what, I think we should abandon the 2 weeks of paid vacation.... At the rate we're going, nobody will use up all their time year-by-year, and some things (medical/family issues) are beyond our control and we shouldn't be penalized for that, or debate it.

Instead, how about the person on vacation is strictly required to give notification prior to their absence (which hasn't been much of a problem, anyway), and if we're not notified ahead of time... well, we can take it from there.

Yes...thats what the policy orignally was until SOMEONE (not naming names) complained and convinced me to change it. We can go back to the way it was before.

OK, then. *Struggles to remember* Was I the one who convinced you to change it? I have a feeling I am, but I also seem to recall carrying over that rule when I first started as CFO....

I'll clear the "Paid vacation remaining" section from the checkbooks during the payment process on Friday.

Kodie I am sorry about your mom and I hope that she gets better. I know how you feel I recently with in the last like two years have lost my grandpa, great uncle, and now my grandma is sick and is in a nursing home. So I know the feeling but anyways she is in my prayers and I hope that she gets better. Also I do agree with mike I think that he should be allowed to do basic stuff and work on things because otherwise were not going to have any buses.

Kodie,
I wish the best for your mom.  I know how hard this must be on you.  We just had a coworker lose her mom at 51 due to lung and liver cancer, and she was devastated.  Once again, my best wishes for you and your mom.
